1. From these activities, I learned different and useful techniques for many purposes within painting.
2. I think the most useful one for the painting I have planned will be the shade, tint, and tone. It adds depth and color differences in a painting and can make my painting look nicer. 3. I learned the most from the color wheel because it helps me know how to find complimentary colors and also create them. 4. some ways to make brown are red and green, purple and yellow, blue and orange. 5. To tone down a color, add grey. (In order) Charcoal, pencil, pen The most helpful warm-up this unit was the pen cubes. It demonstrated and gave examples for each type of pen shading which was very useful for creating the pen piece. It's also generally a good lesson for learning the different styles. Composition is the arrangement of visual elements in a work of art, which can potentially create movement in the piece. Value is the lightness or darkness of a color- highlights and shadows.
One artist I am inspired by is Brittany Wright- a photographer. Originally from Seattle, she became interested in the aging process as well as color gradients of fruits and vegetables. She decided to focus on food's culture and the beautiful images you can create from all kinds of food. (Her website is linked below + example images of her beautiful pictures.) Her work is inspiring to me because it shows that something incredibly artistic can actually just be something quite simple. She wants to focus on the beauty of locally produced foods- which can also help inspire people to buy organic. Her photographs draw me in because of the mesmerizing color gradients, perfect composition, and overall their simplicity. Something very cool about Brittany Wright is that because of her amazing photography, she has a few big clients who also enjoy her work such as Samsung, Target, Vans, Pottery Barn, American Express, and many more.
